GIMP, More than photo editing

Adobe Photoshop and other commercial image editing software are usually sold with high prices that only select few can purchase them. GIMP, or GNU Image Manipulation Program, is the FREE and open source alternative to paid photo editing software.
GIMP is not only used for photo retouching or editing, it is also an image compositioning and authoring software. You can do almost everything you can do on Photoshop on GIMP. The interface is different from Photoshop or similar software though, so it might take a while to get used to. However, it's certainly worth the effort.
Furthermore, you can install GIMP on Windows, Mac, Linux and Linux's variants such as Ubuntu and Mandriva. Yes, Linux users can now use advance photo editing software.
